We fund global majority communities working towards climate justice.
Global Majority,
Black, indigenous,
people of colour (BIPOC),
women, local communities,
working class & campesinos (peasant farmers).
We fund across a spectrum of systems change initiatives, supporting communities and organisations working at the intersection of climate and social justice. We aim to counter the systemic underfunding of global majority leadership, centring action lead from colonised lands. Inclusive climate action has been found to be more effective, building community resilience, rights and equality, while grassroots and community-led projects build community power, rights and equality.
The focus of Resourcing Justice is on climate and social justice understood in relation to decolonisation. These are systemic issues that require systemic funding strategies. As well as resistance and movement building, this might include transformative work on; housing, food, farming, conservation, refuse, health, cultural production and education.
Prevent
Backing initiatives which prevent climate change, resisting extractive industries & colonisation to protect ecosystems and local communities.
Restore
Restoring diverse ecosystems, social systems and cultural pluralities through land, water and cultural conservation, education, storytelling, creativity, farming, recovery & wellbeing.
Adapt
Supporting grassroots adaptations to climate change and imperialism means building more resilient, equitable and healthy communities. This might be; community controlled infrastructure, land management or governance systems.
Systemic challenges require systemic solutions, but dominant funding practices are ill-suited to support them. From the grassroots, to sector research it is clear that if we don’t change philanthropy itself we cannot succeed in our mission of a sustainable and equitable planet.
We strive to explore alternative funding practices, primarily learning from our grantees what works best for them. Our journey is set to explore elements of flexible & core funding, collaboration and decentralisation. Bringing relationship and respect to the centre.
Exchange and reciprocity.
We are exploring an evaluative and reflective process with grantee’s to understand what’s working, what’s not & how practice might evolve to better serve the movement and the moment, inviting relationship and community building.
Where appropriate we would like to uplift the work we support and celebrate it on our platforms.
